Cover Envy: The Widow Clicquot by Tilar J. Mazzeo

Illume Good Nature Soy Candles: Packaging "Inspired" by Coralie Bickford-Smith's Penguin Great Food Series

The design of this candle packaging reminds me a lot of Coralie Bickford-Smith's Penguin Books Great Food Series covers.  I included a few examples at the bottom of this post, and you can see the rest of the covers here.

"Pictures and Conversations": Liberty of London Spring 2015 Art Fabrics Inspired by Alice in Wonderland

The various prints in this collection were inspired by, among other things, the water meadows and streets of Oxford, the White Queen, the flamingos and hedgehogs from the game of croquet, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat's smile, the schoolboy stripes of Tweedledee and Tweedledum's jackets, the crocodile's scales, Alice's wonder and confusion upon meeting the Mad Hatter, the madness of the March Hare, and the Garden of Live Flowers.

Book Review: The Accident by Chris Pavone

Chris Pavone made a huge splash with his debut novel, The Expats.  That novel was about an American housewife living in Belgium with her family, who have no idea that she used to be a spy.  The Accident, like The Expats, involves secrets worth killing for, and, like that novel, it has a hugely suspenseful plot and thrills aplenty.  I admit that I love a thriller, and especially one involving spies, and especially one involving female protagonists, which makes it no surprise that I loved The Accident.  What makes The Accident even more fully in my wheelhouse is the fact that it is a book about books, and more specifically, about the publishing industry.  Thus, in addition to thrills and books, this book provides insight into an industry that is generally pretty closed off to the rest of the world.  Who knew book publishing could be so lethal?  This was a fun, fascinating, and fast read.  Highly recommended.
(I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for an honest review.)
